You will not be able to obtain a quote for a Building Survey as, for the time being, I am not undertaking them. The reason being that I am having difficulty in getting the reports typed up. I am, however, doing the HomeSurvey which is a comprehensive but economic survey report and is also far better value for money than the Building Survey. It includes a Valuation too. Unhappy with the form and content of the new RICS Homebuyer Report (HBR), when it was introduced last year, and far from convinced that it is an improvement on its predecessor, the Homebuyer Survey and Valuation (HSV), I and a number of my colleagues set about designing our own survey report. It was our intention to improve on the existing report, which had then been the industry benchmark for more than 15 years, rather than to discard it for a completely new report which many of us still consider to be poorly designed and neither user nor consumer friendly. The result is the HomeSurvey and Valuation which I now offer here as an alternative to the Homebuyer Report.
I am at present unable to alter the descriptions in the Survey section of this website but, as the HomeSurvey and Valuation is based on the HSV, its description is to all intents and purposes the same as that for the HSV.

Currently the Homebuyers Survey and Valuation (HSV) is the only RICS branded survey product available to the residential property buyer. Described as an economic report it was designed to focus on defects and problems which require urgent attention and/or which have a significant effect on value. Most consider the HSV, whilst perhaps not perfect, to be an extremely good product which is both user and consumer friendly. From the 1st April, however, the HSV is to be replaced by the new Homebuyer Report (HBR), an elemental report which is based around condition ratings. Watch this space.
